Simon was born in Nairobi, Kenya, and spent his formative years in various African countries, experiencing the diverse cultures and landscapes of the continent. In 1976, he embarked on a new chapter of his life and moved to the United Kingdom. There, he pursued his dream of becoming an Air Traffic Controller, undergoing rigorous training and obtaining his qualifications. Simon dedicated many years of his career to this demanding field, working at different airports across the UK.
In 2004, seeking new horizons and professional challenges, Simon relocated to the United Arab Emirates. This move provided him with opportunities to expand his expertise in air traffic control, and he also took on assignments in Iraq. After years of dedicated service, Simon made the decision to retire in 2015 and settled in the picturesque island of Cyprus.
With newfound freedom and a desire to explore his long-standing interest, Simon ventured into the world of scuba diving.
In 2016, he took his first try dive and was instantly captivated by the underwater realm. Eager to enhance his skills and knowledge, Simon completed specialized courses, including Enriched Air (Nitrox) and Deep Dive specialities. His dedication and passion for diving led him to further certifications, becoming a qualified rescue diver in June 2018 and a dive master a year later in June 2019.
Simon's dual passions for diving and aviation find a harmonious balance in his life. Alongside his adventures in the deep blue, he remains connected to the aviation industry. Simon is an integral part of the core team at Dive Cypria, where he contributes his expertise and love for diving to create memorable experiences for fellow enthusiasts.
